Your small intestine isn’t that small – stretched out, it is bigger than a tennis court! When the food and acid mixture from your stomach (called chyme) moves to your small intestine, it is mixed with lots of chemicals that break it into even smaller pieces. As the chyme moves along your small intestine, the nutrients are absorbed by your body to grow and repair cells. Anything the body doesn’t want is simply left behind!
