Your Veins and Capillaries

Your veins bring blood back to your heart from the rest of your body.  This blood doesn’t have much oxygen so your veins can look quite dark, like you have blue or purple blood!  Your veins contain valves which are like doors that shut to stop the blood going backwards.  These help the tiny veins connected to your capillaries and the bigger veins closer to your heart keep your blood flowing in the right direction!
